drawing and insulated wire and cable production have always been strong
and continually growing application areas for Sherburne rod and wire products.
Over the years, major producers of a range of products in these areas
have come to rely on our copper and our wire processing expertise. As a result, Sherburne copper is now used in insulated wire and cable products ranging from power cable to control wire and high-speed telecommunications products. Our copper is also used as magnet wire in motors and generators... as fine wire in the smallest miniature relays... on military and commercial aircraft... and in the cryogenic copper wiring of superconductor applications, such as MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) machines. We know our copper rod is among the best rod produced anywhere. We provide standard and sometimes custom copper rod that performs reliably in high-tech applications, excels in cryogenic uses, achieves chemical compatibility of conductive and demanding insulation materials, and offers the conductivity and processing benefits de-rived from truly oxygen free copper, an increasingly desirable source for wire and cable producers. Our oxygen free products are produced on high-speed upcast casters that directly Ñ without subsequent, drawing and other processing Ñ yield 5/16-rod and achieve excellent surface and internal structure as well as chemical purity. This recently installed Outokumpu system is one of the largest of its type in the world. |
